Experience Niagara Falls on a Budget
May 6/09, NIAGARA FALLS -- May 24, the unofficial start of summer, is around the corner and Niagara Falls is getting ready for the annual crush of visitors.
And despite economic challenges in Canada and the United States, small hoteliers in the Honeymoon Capitol are optimistic about the upcoming tourist season.
“Certainly there may be some people who choose to pass on a family vacation this year for economic reasons. But what we’re seeing is that families still want to take a vacation, they just want budget-friendly alternatives,” says Larry Pfeffer, owner of hotel booking website
NiagaraFallsonaBudget.com
With the opening of the Niagara Fallsview Casino and several large luxury hotel projects, Niagara Falls has quickly developed a reputation of being expensive. But Pfeffer says there are lots of options, close to the hottest attractions for the cost-conscious visitor.
“Luxury is just a fancy word for expensive,” he says. “Increasingly, savvy customers are realizing they can get the same Niagara Falls experience with a smaller price tag by avoiding the pricy big named hotels.”
NiagaraFallsonabudget.com offers a variety of economy brand and independently-run hotels and motels in the Fallsview, Clifton Hill and Lundy’s Lane areas. They offer several different types of accommodations for a variety of visitors – from a girls' weekend away to a family vacation. And visitors to the website can search for a room by rate – ensuring the best possible deal.
But finding a place to rest after a busy day exploring the Falls is just one part of planning a vacation that will leave you with enough money to climb aboard the famous Maid of the Mist.
NiagaraFallsonaBudget.com also offers a series of money saving tips for travellers including where to park for free (or nearly free), maps of parking lots in the area and information on public transportation and shuttles in Niagara Falls. There’s also a listing of restaurants that will fill your stomach without emptying your wallet.
“I grew up in Niagara and I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years. So I know where to get the best bang for your buck when in Niagara Falls. “It’s information everyone should know if you want to stretch your dollar,” said Pfeffer.
“At
NiagaraFallsonaBudget.com we believe you shouldn’t have to go broke to have fun – and if you use my website you won’t have to.”
Don't let new border rules spoil your Niagara Falls Vacation: Plan Ahead
Niagara Falls in Canada is a popular drive-in destination for thousands of American visitors each year. This is especially true this summer with families searching for budget-friendly getaways.
However some visitors may be inclined to cross Niagara Falls off their list of possible destinations due to the new United States land border crossing requirements. But there are plenty of options available to meet the new requirements and take in all Niagara Falls has to offer. As of June 1, 2009 U.S. citizens returning home from Canada by land or sea, will be required to present one of several travel documents, many of which are already available. These include:
- U.S. Passport – This is an internationally recognized travel document that verifies a person’s identity and nationality. It is accepted for travel by air, land and sea.
- U.S. Passport Card – This is a new, limited-use travel document that fits in your wallet and costs less than a U.S. Passport. It is only valid for travel by land and sea.
- Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL) – Several states and Canadian provinces are issuing this driver’s license or identification document that denotes identity and citizenship. It is specifically designed for cross-border travel into the U.S. by land or sea.
- Trusted Traveler Program Cards – NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST enrolment cards can speed your entry into the U.S. and are issued only to pre-approved, low-risk travelers. The cards are valid for use at land or sea; the NEXUS card can be used in airports with a NEXUS kiosk.
"While the new requirements may cause some visitors to stay at home, local hotel owners are optimistic American visitors will secure the appropriate documents and visit Niagara Falls as planned,: said Larry Pfeffer, owner of Niagara Falls on a Budget.
Similar to the non-smoking by-law that was passed in Ontario a few years ago, concerns again are at an all time high in regards to tourism. They weathered that storm, and now it will be interesting to see how this new policy will affect visitation this summer.
